Outstanding Performance Indicators

According to the Regional Health Information Officer, Mr. George Asare-Tabi, the hospital’s impressive ranking was based on several key health indicators. These included:

  • A reduced institutional neonatal mortality rate
  • Improved rational use of medicines, including fewer antibiotic prescriptions per encounter
  • A decline in the institutional all-cause mortality rate
  • An increase in the percentage of suspected malaria cases receiving parasitology tests

These achievements highlight the hospital’s commitment to evidence-based practices and patient-centered care.

Leadership and Innovations Driving Success

The Medical Superintendent, Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako, attributed the success to the dedication of his youthful, hardworking, and enthusiastic staff. He highlighted several initiatives that contributed to the hospital’s performance, including:

  • Basic Life Support training by Code.Red Emergency Medical Services
  • Customer Service training facilitated by HiPAG Services
  • Obstetric Ultrasound training for staff
  • Retooling of the hospital’s laboratory

Additionally, surgical outreaches in April and May played a vital role in providing much-needed healthcare services, extending hope and healing to people both within and outside the region.

Regional Health Director’s Commendation

In his closing presentation, the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Osei Kuffour-Afreh, remarked, “This is the definition of a primary hospital… that is what we want to achieve”, commending the leadership of the facility for the feat. He admonished all facilities to put in their maximum best as the region has seen a rise in maternal mortalities for the first half of the year, to prevent any more of such.

Conclusion
