The Tain District Hospital Medical Laboratory is a public facility established by the Ghana Health Service with the mandate to oversee all medical laboratory diagnostic, survey, prevention, care, research and monitoring programs of patient management in the TDH and referring facilities within the Tain District and beyond.

- *Haematology investigations: Hb estimation, Sickling tests, G6PD, Blood Grouping, ESR, etc
- *Parasitology investigations: Urine and Stool routine examinations, Malaria microscopy, H-pylori test , etc
- *Microbiology: TB Microscopy, Culture and Sensitivity, Blood Culture , Semen analysis, etc
- *Serology: Syphillis, Widal test, Pregnancy test, Hepatitis B and C test, Retro screening, etc
- *Blood bank services: Groupi and cross matching, Donor screening and bleeding, etc

STAFF STRENGH
The Laboratory has a staff strength of 13 permanent and 1 casual staff. The various cadre include; 4 Medical Laboratory Scientists, 7 Medical Laboratory Technicians and 2 Medical Laboratory Assistants.

ABOUT BLOOD BAND
Blood banking services: The TDH Medical Laboratory has a functional Blood bank that runs a 24 hour blood banking service. The TDH blood bank receives blood product requests from IPD and external facilities. We issue cross matched blood products like Whole blood, Fresh Frozen Plasma, Concentrated Red Cells, etc. Our capable and highly experienced staff at the Blood bank do donor screening, donor bleeding and processing
