As part of her ongoing familiarization tour of the Bono Region, the Regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (CNMO), Mrs. Mercy Fordjour, paid an official working visit to Tain District Hospital to engage with Nurses and Midwives.
The visit commenced with a high-level meeting with the hospital’s Management Team, where issues pertaining to nursing and midwifery services in the district were discussed.
Following the management engagement, Mrs. Fordjour held an interactive session with a cross-section of Nurses and Midwives of the facility.
Addressing the professionals, the CNMO emphasized the core principles essential for the advancement and integrity of the nursing and midwifery profession. She reminded staff of the five building blocks of nursing and midwifery, stressing the need to uphold them as permanent pillars of professional practice.
Her address also focused on three key areas: Professional Identity, Discipline, and Clinical Documentation. She reiterated the importance of adhering strictly to the prescribed uniform, noting that proper appearance is a hallmark of professional identity. She further urged all Nurses and Midwives to maintain the highest standard of discipline while on duty.
Mrs. Fordjour also underscored the critical role of accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation in ensuring quality patient care, continuity of care, and legal accountability.
In her concluding remarks, she called for the unwavering support and cooperation of all Nurses and Midwives as she assumes leadership of nursing and midwifery services in the region, to collectively elevate the profession.
