On Tuesday, 4th November 2025, the Regional Director of Health Services for the Bono Region, Dr. (Med) Osei Kuffour Afreh, paid his first official visit to the Tain District Hospital since assuming office. This was part of similar visits to district health directorates and hospitals within the region to acquaint himself and meet staff.
He was accompanied by new senior managers who have assumed duty at the Regional Health Directorate.
They included:
- Mrs. Rita Acquah, Deputy Director of Administration
- Mr. Clement Atampugri, Deputy Director of Finance
- Miss Afia Agyiewaa Danso Esq, Regional Legal Officer
At a mini-durbar to meet the team, the District Director of Health Services introduced the team and welcomed them to the district. The Administrator of the facility, Mr. Richard Asamoah, welcomed the team to the hospital. On behalf of the Medical Superintendent, Dr. (Med) Philip Taah-Amoako, who was on official duties outside the region, he informed them that about the efforts being made to position the facility for a secondary upgrade.
He also indicated some challenges the facility faced. Notable amongst them was the lack of a duty vehicle and motorcycles for outreach programs.
In response to the challenges, the Regional Director promised to provide some motorcycles to the facility to support outreach activities. He also admonished the staff to work with discipline, integrity, teamwork, and professionalism, the core principles of the Service. He further touched on the importance of documentation due to the unfortunate rise in medicolegal issues in the service.
The Ag. Head of Nursing, Mr. Samuel Welbeck Asamoah, thanked the director and his team for the visit and assured them of the commitment of management and staff to ensure the facility maintains its standards.
Dr. (Med) Osei Kuffour Afreh has had a long working history with the region, having previously served as the Berekum Municipal Director of Health Services and the Deputy Director of Public Health for the then Brong Ahafo Region.
