Introduction:
A three-day High-Level Stakeholder Engagement was held from 17th to 19th September 2025 to strategize on improving health delivery in the Tain District. The meeting brought together leaders of all public health facilities in the district, the District Chief Executive represented by the Deputy District Coordinating Director, the Member of Parliament for the Tain Constituency, Hon. Sulemana Adama, and officials from the Regional Health Directorate.

Facility Performance Review
The first two days were dedicated to assessing validated district health data to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in achieving set goals. Facility in-charges reviewed their individual performances using selected indicators, identified specific challenges, and collectively proposed solutions.
Key Presentations
District Director of Health, Mr. Kennedy Ohene-Adjei:
– Delivered a presentation on effective management styles and strategies for maximizing team output.
– Highlighted major infrastructural challenges affecting healthcare delivery in the district.
Medical Superintendent, Dr. Philip Taah-Amoako:
– Conducted a SWOT analysis of the District Hospital in its bid for an upgrade.
– Outlined efforts already undertaken by the hospital’s management.
– Called for increased stakeholder support to achieve the desired upgrade.


Panel Discussion
The engagement climaxed with a 4–5 hour panel discussion involving all stakeholders.
Hon. Sulemana Adama (MP, Tain Constituency):
– Addressed infrastructural challenges facing health centers.
– Pledged to secure approval from the Ghana Highways Authority for the construction of speed rumps in front of the District Hospital to reduce road traffic risks to staff and patients.
– Committed to immediately providing 20 new street bulbs to replace worn-out ones along the highway leading to the hospital.
– Reaffirmed the government’s initiatives under the “Big Push Agenda”, with hopes of lobbying for additional resources.
– Promised continuous collaboration with the District Assembly to ensure staff—especially long-serving ones—are acknowledged and motivated.
Deputy District Coordinating Director (on behalf of the DCE):
– Supported the MP’s commitments.
– Reassured participants of the Assembly’s role in advancing healthcare delivery.



Outcome
The panel discussion was exhaustive and touched every phase of health delivery in the district, with inputs from all who matter, and ended with a renewed commitment to ensure safe care for all within the constituency
Conclusion
This stakeholder engagement was jointly organized by the District Health Management Team (DHMT) and the Management Team of the District Hospital, and was held in Sunyani.
