As part of its commitment to marking global events of public health importance, Tain District Hospital (TDH) joined the world to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2026 under the global theme, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.”
The week-long celebration was packed with impactful and educative activities aimed at promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding within the district.
Activities included an insightful clinical presentation for staff on evidence-based strategies to strengthen breastfeeding practices, a highly interactive radio talk show that demystified common myths and misconceptions surrounding breastfeeding, and targeted community outreaches to engage and empower families at the grassroots.
In addition, routine breastfeeding education and counselling sessions were intensified for mothers in the maternity ward to equip them with the right techniques and knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding.
The climax of the celebration was the official launch of the Tain District Hospital Breastfeeding Policy Document – a bold institutional step to align our practices with international best standards and to create a sustainable, breastfeeding-friendly environment for all mothers and babies.
In all, the commemoration was a resounding success, reinforcing our dedication to ensuring every child enjoys a healthy and sustainable start in life through breastfeeding.
