The Tain District Hospital has concluded the yearlong 60th-anniversary celebrations with a call to improve living conditions for staff as part of a broader goal of upgrading the facility.
Speaking at a grand durbar held at the facility on Friday, 10th April, 2026, Dr Philip Taah-Amoako emphasized that the staff of the hospital are the building blocks of a future secondary facility. Therefore, they need to incentivize and retain them.

He remarked that the workload in the facility has significantly increased, but that has not correlated with the staff strength. He therefore appealed to Nananom to look into concerns with accommodation and help address them.
In his response, the paramount chief of the Nsawkaw Traditional Area and chairman of the occasion, Dasebre Okogyeaman Nana Duodu-Ampem II commended the staff for their hard work. He acknowledged the hospital’s remarkable achievements and commended the leadership. He also shared the sentiments of staff and pledged to intervene with the rent concerns while efforts are made to make land acquisition easier for staff.

On his part, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa Esq., commended the visionary leadership of the facility. He encouraged everyone to reflect on future challenges while expressing confidence in the hospital’s ability to continue delivering excellent services and expanding its capacity.
The Guest of Honour and National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Hon. Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, called for unity amongst the paramountcies. He emphasized the need to see Tain District Hospital as an asset of the whole district and not just Nsawkaw. That was the surest way to upgrade the facility. He also called for a wider stakeholder engagement in seeking assistance to mitigate the challenges the facility faced.

Other distinguished personalities who graced the occasion included the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Tain District, Hon Salia Iddisah, District Chief Executive of Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, former DCE of Tain District, Hon. Jones Tawiah, former DCE and Chairperson of the Hospital Advisory Board, Hon. Dr. Nana Lucy Acheampong, and District Directors of Health of Tain, Berekum, and Banda.
Delegations were also received from the Banda Traditional Council, the Badu Traditional Council, the Seikwa Traditional Council, the Bui Power Authority, the Ghana Audit Service, and the Regional Health Directorate.

The 60th Anniversary was held under the theme “prospects for a secondary facility, the role of stakeholders”. The year-long program had included free surgeries, health walks, health screening programs, and many other initiatives.
